Capturing Family Magic at Hyde Park Village: The Patel Family Session
Hyde Park Village is one of those rare Tampa spots that blends urban sophistication with relaxed, natural beauty. Nestled between Swann and Rome Avenues, it's lined with trendy stores like Anthropologie and cozy cafes, while offering photogenic corners—the fountain area, ivy-draped walls, benches, and chamfered pathways—for portrait perfection.

Last month of May, I had the joy of photographing the Patel family as they created magical memories amid the sunny charm of Hyde Park Village, Tampa’s upscale open-air shopping district. The elegant brick walkways, boutique storefronts, and lush greenery made for a perfect backdrop that radiated warmth and style.
Check some of my fav moments walking with them around Hyde park Village in Tampa.
Location Spotlight: Hyde Park Village
Hyde Park Village is one of those rare Tampa spots that blends urban sophistication with relaxed, natural beauty. Nestled between Swann and Rome Avenues, it's lined with trendy stores like Anthropologie and cozy cafes, while offering photogenic corners—the fountain area, ivy-draped walls, benches, and chamfered pathways—for portrait perfection
It's a place where candid laughter and effortless connection come alive—like they did during the Patel session, where walking shots, shared smiles, and soft touches between family members made every frame feel genuine.
Tips for Your Hyde Park Village Family Session
1. Book Early – Especially for Golden Hour
Hyde Park’s popularity means early bookings are key. Evening golden-hour sessions—about an hour before sunset—offer soft, glowing light that's perfect for portraits. But also morning ligth like in this session is something we can take advantage.
2. Outfit Coordination is Key
Outfits that complement one another (without matching) bring vibrancy without distraction. Think earthy tones, jewel hues, and subtle layers that elevate each family member's personality.
3. Let Moments Likely Happen
Instead of stiff poses, focus on light movement—walking hand-in-hand, playful spins, or sharing a sweet laugh near the fountain. These candid expressions capture the spirit of your bond best. Or just play around with your kids and enjoy the time .
4. Timing & Flow
Hyde Park can get busy—especially near the fountain and storefronts. We aim for shifts of light and space that avoid crowds. Sneak in a mirror selfie or reflection shot near the boutique windows for a creative touch.
5. Involve the Kids
If your kids are curious, let them help pick a backdrop or prop. Explaining what will happen on shoot day and giving them some choices helps ease nerves and maximize joy.
Why These Sessions Shine
Scenic, sophisticated streetscapes give your portraits a timeless yet modern feel.
Candid moments in real places make your photos feel like memories, not just pictures.
A location that’s easy, fun, and full of life—Hyde Park Village is equally great for leisurely portraits and polished family portraits.

Ballast Point Park family session , Smash cake , Tampa photographer
OMG you have to see these sweet images of Isabella and her family who just moved from NYC!!
This park is one of my favorites in the South are of Tampa. Ballast Point Park has many good spots to shoo a family session, or any other portrait session. We thought about this place when they asked for water background in the Tampa area. The smash cake session was at the end, since we love to do some portraits first with parents , siblings and pets of course!
This time we had time to do ALL of those portraits , just before Isabella’s got into that cute boho style cake. A naked cake by our bakery Deliciously Homemade Bakery Follow her on IG https://instagram.com/deliciouslyhomemadebakery?igshid=MDM4ZDc5MmU=
When you book with us you get ALL INCLUDED pack, you just have to come with your baby and bring her/him a cute outfit for the session. I normally encourage parents to come with three or even four outfits, the kids normally get a little bit messy or dirty , depending the location but, we totally know how it goes… so we had fun with that and give the parents time to change the baby as many times as they want.
Also we did some posts earlier talking about tips and recommendations to bring that day, like water and wipes are always welcome LOL
Well, enough of talking and lets enjoy a little bit of this cute session. :)
The second and last part of our session was the most exciting and fun! Smash cake was SUPER FUN and PERFECT with Isabella, she is the sweetest. She enjoyed every second of it!! Check out here the images of her best moments during the smash cake.

Crystal and James are my clients for more than four years now… they are always a pleasure to work with. Their family is sweet and adorable. I love how the girls are growing and looking gorgeous every time we met for sessions. Even if they sometimes dont want to take pics, we always have fun and had amazing portraits of them.
This time the locations was Hyde Park Village in Tampa, we had a session here before when Hannah was a baby girl. But today we are sharing a session in this same place with two little girls rocking their session with fun dances, smiles and ICE CREAM!! YEAH !! They had an ice cream at the end of the session in ODD FELLOWS ice cream shop .
Ok lets talk about their outfits. This time they showed with blue hues and some light pink touches. I LOVE IT!! It’s so beautiful and perfect for a portrait session; Crystal has an idea of hanging some big frames at their home, so they went with a neutral color… but they are using also those images for their Christmas cards.
When your have the chance to do a family session I would recommend to think about the colors and style … even if you are shooting a session during Christmas time, think about the future or the propose to the images. Sometimes my clients dont do more than one session every year, so they have to go with colors that can use every year in their frames… and may be they add some things or props of Christmas to “add that Christmas feeling” .
What do you think>? Do you do the same think as Crystal and James, or do you shoot more than one session every year?
Hyde Park Village is a beautiful place where you can actually get different views. … and also you can get spots like this fountain with kind of a “private “ feeling. Also now they have a telephone cabins similar of those you can find in London!!! I LOVE IT!! Make it more interesting. Check now the last part of the session.

Fun In The Sun
A family is the best team you could have. The Amaya Family came to Julian B. Lane Park for their family shoot. They had so much fun in the sun. They came dressed in pretty pastel colors. The girl’s Paula and
Isabella's pale pink dresses were so cute and adorable, they even match well with dad and mom attire. Dressing alike with colors, patterns, or theme makes the photos better and more fun. Ana Amaya is also a photographer living in South Tampa. Ana Laura Photography

All too often we forget how important family photos are. Family photos help you connect, document growth, and relive memories to those who came before. When children are younger, having a portrait of the family done each or every other is a great way to document the progress of each of them as they grow. Family pictures or portraits have the power to allow you to be taken back to an exact moment in time. Not only to remind you of how you looked but exactly how you felt at that moment. They bring us back in time. They’re a great way to reminisce. They are also a part of our legacy. In years to come, grandchildren and great-grandchildren may someday ask to see pictures of the family, and wouldn’t it just be sad if there were few or none to share. There’s no reason to dismiss the opportunity to capture life together now. You never know when that last chance for a family photo will come.
